Factorisation (In a Nutshell)

When given an expression to factorise...

Step 1:
Look for common factors across all the terms first.
It could be the numerical part or the variable(s).

Step 2:
If there are 4 terms, let's explore if we could use factorisation by grouping.

Step 3:
If there are "square" terms (x^2), i.e. when we have a quadratic expression, we shall see if it fits into any of the special products:

Step 4:
If the quadratic expression does not fit into any of the above "pattern", consider using the Cross Method to factorise
